The administrative division of the Directorate General of Medical Supplies is associated with Undersecretary of Administrative and Financial affairs. The Directorate General is consists of following directorates and sections : Directorate of Administrative and Financial Affairs, Directorate of Specifications and Supplies, Directorate of Drugs Stores, Directorate of Medical Stores, Nizwa Regional Warehouse, Salalah Regional Warehouse, Reserve Store-Bowsher, Inventory Control Section, Computer Section, Coordination and Follow-up Section. The immediate objectives :Provide the needs of the health institutions of medical supplies in accordance with the specifications of the required quality at timely and reasonable prices . Raise the level of pharmaceutical care and ensure patient safety.

About Us
The Directorate General of Medical supplies is the authorized body in the Ministry of Health to provide the needs of all health institutions from medicines and surgical materials and laboratory.
The provision of the needs of the health institutions of medical supplies, according to the specifications of the required quality and timely and appropriate prices. Raising the level of pharmaceutical care and ensure patient safety.
The development of specifications of medicines and medical materials ( surgical and laboratory ) required for health institutions affiliated to the ministry according to the criteria used in the characterization and classification of materials .
Providing and receiving , storage and dispensing of medicines and medical supplies to health institutions affiliated to the ministry in accordance with the rules and provisions included by the financial law and a list of stores of government and the law of government tenders and ministerial decisions and evidence -based work processes.
Estimated budget proposal to secure the needs of the ministry 's annual medicines and medical sup-plies to cover the cost of depreciation and the needs of the projects and expansions and new services.
Overseeing the management of Reserve Store of medicines and medical supplies needed for emer-gencies and disasters, according to the budget allocated for this purpose.
Monitoring storing and distribute systems and follow-up rates of consumption of drugs and medical institutions affiliated to the ministry of health and standardization of systems and mechanisms used and to overcome obstacles to the implementation of plans and Pharmaceutical policies.
Activating the role of drug and therapeutic committees in hospitals and Polyclinics through the provision of information , studies and developments in medication affairs and follow up the implementation of recommendations related to the Directorate specialties.
Participate in the preparation and implementation of programs and training for the development of pharmaceutical and cadres of various categories to help health institutions and provide technical support to enable them to implement the policies and plans related to drugs and medical materials.
Participation in the development and implementation of national drug policies and programs of the ministry of health in the field of pharmaceutical care and conduct research and studies relating to medical supplies to upgrade pharmaceutical services at different levels of health care .
Conduct analytical studies and elicitation plans for the development and use of performance indica-tors and data and information to improve service and rationalization of expenditure and consumption and optimize the use of available financial resources.
Supervising the application of an effective program to follow up on the quality of medicines and medical supplies purchased with the Ministry of Health to improve the quality, effectiveness and safety of medical supplies.
Overseeing the qualification of medical materials companies to participate in tenders and the Ministry of Health, according to the technical conditions and standards specified for materials conforming to the specifications of the required quality.
The application of an effective system to manage quality in stores in all aspects of work in accor-dance with the international standards of quality to improve performance and ensure continuous im-provement of service and positive interaction to achieve the consent of the beneficiaries and the work on the implementation of the instructions and guidelines on procedures for security, safety and emergency stores.

This code of ethics prescribes the ethical responsibilities expected from all practicing pharmacists and assistant pharmacists in the Sultanate of Oman. The code defines the ethical responsibility inherent in the pharmacist’s role and supports the need to protect and promote the interest of patients and their safety, in accordance with Muslim values and health care ethics as well as the rich cultural heritage and blend of Oman community.

The manual provides a brief guidance on the pharmaceutical preparation that could be prepared manually due to non-availability of ready-made commercial products. The manual contains 113 preparations demonstrating the preparation process, storage and risk level of each product during preparation.
