Directorate General of Private Health Establishments
Directorate of Private private health sector represents one of the pillars of the health system in the Sultanate of Oman and is considered a major tributary to health investment and an active partner with government health establishments to provide various healthcare services in all Governorates of the Sultanate. The Ministry of Health, represented by the General Directorate of Private Health Establishments, seeks to achieve the goals of Oman Vision 2040 for comprehensive health coverage and sustainable health development and implement the activities of the National Program for Digital Transformation. It also strives to encourage and attract investment in this vital sector by simplifying the procedures for licensing private health establishments and licensing healthcare professionals. The launch of the Ministry of Health's Health Portal comes to translate this vision based on the principles of transparency by automating the procedures for these services while providing digital windows for legislative systems, policies, work guides, and algorithms that clarify the paths for obtaining services. Separate windows for open data are also available, including a directory of licensed private health establishments and their specialties, and licensed medical personnel with their specialties, and it includes a list of the names of visiting doctors from inside and outside the Sultanate to facilitate community members’ access to appropriate health care. The Health Portal is fed and updated with data and information for those windows on an ongoing basis. Due to the importance of improving the services on this portal and to know the extent of satisfaction of the beneficiaries of these services, there is an icon for communicating with community members to express their views and suggestions. Investors and workers in the private health sector can also advertise and promote their services through the resources available on the portal, through the addresses of the Directorate and social media, or through the official e-mail of the Directorate. Department of Quality Control & Patient Safety Main Aim: Assurance of patient safety and work quality to raise the level of health services provided by private health establishments for Omani & Non-Omani and its efficiency. It is responsibilities:- • Audit and follow-up private health establishment (Hospitals, Medical Centers, Medical Complexes, General/Specialized Medical Clinics, …) in all governorates in Oman according to lows and standers of practicing Human Medicine and Dental Low. • Update DGPHE staff and private health establishment staff by conducting CME. • Receiving complaints against private health establishments and their staff and investigate them. • Follow-up the reports from governorates and central reports, discuss with DGPHE committee to decide referring them to violation committee. Department of license & Profession's Evaluation Department of license & Profession's Evaluation is the backbone of the directorate general of private health establishment.It looks after all health care works in terms of evaluation , competency and continues profession education . The main functions are to evaluate the healthcare workers credentials , issue and renewal of registration license and to cooperate with other governments agency to appoint and follow up. In addition , formulate educational plane with CPE section to raise their competency and knowledge.
