About Us
The General Directorate of Engineering Projects and Services is one of the most important service directorates under the Ministry of Health. It is responsible for constructing of various health institutions and facilities and overseeing their implementation according to international engineering standards and specifications. In addition, it provides modern medical and non-medical equipment to ensure the highest standards of health services for service recipients and the safety of the health workforce, in alignment with the Ministry of Health’s strategy and Oman Vision 2040
It is one of the most crucial directorate within the DGPES, responsible for supervising, designing, and overseeing the implementation of approved development projects and expansions, adhering to the highest architectural engineering standards.
The Directorate of Maintenance evaluates and determines the maintenance work requirements for health institutions, focusing on building maintenance, communications, office equipment, electrical appliances, and cooling and air conditioning systems. This process is carried out in coordination with the relevant Ministry authorities to enhance and upgrade these facilities.
The Directorate of Medical Technologies is responsible for supplying both existing and new health institutions with modern medical equipment and devices. This includes maintaining, replacing, and upgrading the equipment as needed, as well as providing ambulances based on the actual requirements of the health institutions.
The Directorate of Engineering and Technical Affairs works to protect patients and medical staff from radiation hazards by conducting acceptance tests and quality control checks on radiology equipment before it is used. The Directorate also reviews the engineering plans of private health institutions to ensure they meet the standards and requirements set by the Ministry of Health, in coordination with the Directorate General of Private Health Establishments. Additionally, the Directorate reviews the design of medical gas systems in both government and private health institutions. Furthermore, it is responsible for reviewing and approving the requirements set by the Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority for all new projects, expansions, and maintenance activities.
