Al-Dakhliya Governorate
Directorate General of Health Services in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate is one of the eleven health services directorates distributed across the governorates of the Sultanate. It works to lead and monitor the implementation of health services in health institutions within the governorate through an integrated network of high-standard health facilities that provide curative, preventive, rehabilitative, and promotive health services characterized by comprehensiveness and easy accessibility for all segments of society. The health services system consists of health centers distributed across all wilayats of the governorate, health complexes in the wilayats of Bahla, Nizwa, Izki, and Samail, local hospitals in the wilayats of Adam, Izki, and Al Jabal Al Akhdar, wilayat hospitals in the wilayats of Bahla and Samail, and a referral hospital in the wilayat of Nizwa. Health centers, health complexes, and local hospitals provide integrated packages of primary health care programs, while wilayat hospitals and the referral hospital provide secondary health care services. The system is completed by referring cases that require tertiary health care to hospitals in Muscat Governorate. The governorate also hosts pioneering initiatives and projects that were the first of their kind at the level of the Sultanate, including the Nizwa Healthy Lifestyles Project, the Student Counseling Center, the On-the-Job Training Center, and the Elderly Care Project. Some of these initiatives have been expanded to other governorates of the Sultanate after proving their success.

The Directorate General of Health Services in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate is one of the eleven health directorates distributed across the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman. It is responsible for leading and overseeing the implementation of health services across healthcare institutions in the governorate through an integrated network of high-standard facilities. These institutions provide comprehensive curative, preventive, rehabilitative, and promotive health services that are accessible to all segments of society, in alignment with the national strategic directions aimed at building a sustainable and innovative health system that supports the achievement of Oman Vision 2040.
The healthcare system in the governorate comprises health centers distributed across all wilayats, health complexes in the wilayats of Bahla, Nizwa, Izki, and Samail, local hospitals in the wilayats of Adam, Izki, and Al Jabal Al Akhdar, and wilayat hospitals in Bahla and Samail, in addition to the referral hospital in Nizwa. Health centers, health complexes, and local hospitals provide integrated packages of primary healthcare services, while wilayat hospitals and the referral hospital deliver secondary healthcare services. The system is further complemented by referring cases requiring tertiary care to hospitals in Muscat Governorate.
The governorate has also pioneered several innovative initiatives and projects that were the first of their kind at the national level, including the Nizwa Healthy Lifestyle Project, the Student Counseling Center, the Job Training Center, and the Elderly Care Project. Some of these initiatives have been replicated in other governorates across the Sultanate after demonstrating their success.
The health sector is considered one of the main pillars for achieving social well-being and human development. The Directorate General of Health Services in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate strives to realize the strategic direction of “Health Priority,” which is the second priority in Oman Vision 2040, aiming to establish a leading healthcare system that meets global standards.

The regulatory framework for the emergency plan for Health Services in Al Dakhilya Governorate
In light of potential emergencies in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, the Directorate General of Health Services has developed an integrated framework for crisis management and emergency response. The Emergency Response Committee operates within the Civil Defense system at the governorate level and in coordination with the national Medical Response and Public Health sector to ensure preparedness and rapid response.
