The Directorate General of Health Services of Muscat Governorate, a repository of technical knowledge, is directly under the administration structure of H.E. the Minister and Under Secretaries (Health Affairs, Planning, and, Administration and Finance) for all the matters relating to Health in Muscat Region. Where, it renders technical advice on all medical and public health matters and in the implementation of various health schemes. That is to implement the policies and programs of the Ministry in an effective manner. Director General of Health Services embraces the Health Services in the primary health care and it supported by a management team of administrative Directors in Hospitals and Health Willayat Directorates. Muscat Region has 29 Health Centers, 3 Polyclinic, 1 Hospital, 3 CDC and 1 Renal Dialysis Center. The Services provided are classified as primary, secondary and specialized care where needed. The region is committed to provide high quality services to its population.

Directorate of Health Affairs

This directorate is responsible for the effective and efficient implementation and Management of the health programs of MOH in co-ordination with the related Directors of the Ministry of Health and with the Directors of health Services at the wilayats and the Heads of Health Centers. The directorate is responsible for the distribution and the supervision of the medical and paramedical manpower in co-ordination with the Director of Administration, in charge for the surveillance of the communicable, non-communicable, malaria and environmental programs in Muscat Region, in addition it is responsible for solving the health and the environmental problems of the region and organize priorities in co-ordination with the head quarters and the Health centers. It is also responsible for identifying the training needs within the region and to impart training, responsible for promoting and advocating the quality improvement program, to improve the health services. It also participates in the development of the strategic plan for the health programs and monitoring of the goals and the objectives. It also ensure equipments and supplies are maintained according to the standard, resolve complains according to the policy. Evaluate the productivity and the efficiency and initiate measure to maximize utilization of the personnel. It also approves, implement and monitor irregular leaves for different categories.

<p>The directorate is responsible for keeping the facilities, buildings and medical equipments in safe and good working condition - this including preventive and breakdown maintenance – and making specification for new equipments and projects and inspecting them. It is also responsible for designing and execution of new projects which to be done from the directorate budget.
