History
In an attempt to provide best quality health services, and based on the efforts of achieving the health policies, objective and mission of the Ministry of Health, Rustaq hospital has been established to be a center of delivering excellence health care services for citizens in South Batinah Governorate. Rustaq Hospital offers its medical services for 6 Willayats ( Rustaq, Awabi, Nakhal, Wadi Al Mawel, Barka and Musana). Rusatq Hospital is located in Rustaq Willayat, the regional center of the South Batinah governorate, which is 160 km far from capital city, Muscat. According to National Center of Statistical Information, the population of Batinah South is 465210 in August 2021. The building and the structure of the hospital is designed according to the international criteria.

Emergency Medicine which contains a room to classify the emergency cases (triage room), 7 beds in the Emergency clinic, four beds for the resuscitation cases, four beds for the short-stays, two beds for the minor surgery, and one room for the quarantine (isolation room).

The vision of the department is to enhance the healthcare quality as to fulfill the needs and expectations of patients, their relatives, and all community with the highest standards. It is keen to develop and continuously update the services and staff of the hospital, confirming and assuring the key values they work on by providing high-standard healthcare. It also attempts to conduct researches and initiatives in order to offer outstanding services. This department focuses on analysis, monitoring, and improving the performance indicators of the hospital services. It also investigates and analyzes the incidents raised by the medical departments and other institutions. The department regularly makes questionnaires to study the satisfaction of both service-recipients (i.e. patients) and health care workers. The department is also responsible for reviewing and arranging the applied policies and protocols of Rustaq Hospital and following its function , besides the services of invention, continuous improvement, and drug safety.

Information and Health Statistic Department
One of the most important and efficient Department in the hospital. Indeed, the hospital uses the computer system (Electronic Medical File) to facilitate the doctors and other employees’ works who provide healthcare. The electronic medical file is used to follow all the information of patients (examination, results, x-ray images, medical reports…). Also the patients are referred internally between the different departments within the hospital itself electronically, this is beside the outside electronic referrals (E-Referral) which classified the diseases using international code (ICD-10). One of the tasks done by this department is to prepare the daily, monthly, and annually statistical reports, including the comparative reports between the years. This department arrange the referrals to the specialized OPDs, surgical operations and endoscopic. This department is responsible to register the patients in the emergency and out patients OPDs. The Civil ID is the fundamentals to register any patients in the hospital.

Rustaq Hospital is considered as one of the most important teaching hospitals, which is responsible for training the intern doctors and doctors enrolled in Oman Medical Specialty Board for its approved programs such as emergency medicine, orthopedics, general surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics & gynecology, and pediatrics. . . etc. Besides, the hospital provides the educational services for the students of Nursing College as well as teaching and training nurses during their Enhancement period using specialized teaching programs.

Rusatq Hospital provides electronic services such as SMS Messages to patients concerning appointments, electronic referrals to other hospitals , service of Nutrition catering . In addition, the service of booking appointments via WhatsApp application was launched, along with the service of complaints and suggestions. .so everyone may rise their complaints or suggestions electronically via the QR Code system, which is found in most of the hospital corridors. The complaints will be reviewed, and the necessary actions therefore will be taken by the Complaints Team of the hospital .

The current building is inaugurated on December 14th 1994 to be a great develop in medical field. Rustaq Hospital has a medical professional expert trained staff who seeks to provide medical care 24 hour. In addition, Rustaq Hospital conducts workshops and conferences in the field of the medical sector. It also seeks to spread health community awareness. The hospital provides a top-quality healthcare for patients either in OPD or Emergency Medicine Department using cutting-edge technologies. The care is also extended to include the high intensive healthcare support in different units in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Operation Theater (OT), Delivery Suit (DS), Renal Dialysis Unit (RDU), and Medical Rehabilitation Service.
