“Think Health… Think Pharmacist,” The Directorate of Health Services in Musandam celebrates Pharmacist Day Under the patronage of His Eminence Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Abdul Sattar Al-Kamali, Judge of the Supreme Court and President of the Court of Appeals in Musandam Governorate, the Directorate General of Health Services in Musandam held a ceremony to mark World Pharmacists Day. The event was attended by Mr. Ali bin Abdullah Al-Shehi, Director General of Health Services in Musandam Governorate, along with a number of officials from government departments and staff from health institutions across the governorate. Reinforcing the Role of the Pharmacist On this occasion, Ms. Moza bint Ahmed Al-Shehhi, Director of the Pharmaceutical Care and medical stores delivered a speech in which she emphasized that the pharmacist is an essential partner in the treatment journey and a key link in promoting the health of individuals and society. She noted that pharmacists are committed to the optimal use of medication, help reduce medication errors, and work hand in hand with medical teams to ensure patient safety and well-being. She highlighted that pharmaceutical services in Musandam Governorate have reached significant progress in recent years, both in terms of the expansion of qualified pharmaceutical staff — which has reached 68 pharmacists and assistant pharmacists — and in the Omanization rate of 92%, reflecting the nation’s trust in its pharmacists and assistants. She also affirmed the ongoing efforts to further enhance pharmaceutical services to serve as a model of quality and sustainability, keeping pace with scientific and professional developments, and strengthening the pharmacist’s role as an active partner in the healthcare system, especially the rapid global changes in the pharmaceutical sector. Awareness Presentation The celebration program included an awareness video highlighting the development of pharmacy in the Sultanate of Oman, the stages of pharmacist training, and various health programs that contribute to improving the quality of healthcare. School students also participated by presenting educational performances that reflected their awareness of the pharmacist’s role and the message of the profession in serving the community. The event also featured discussion sessions addressing the humanitarian responsibility of pharmacists and their role in raising community awareness and promoting health education. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the patron of the event honored outstanding pharmacists in recognition of their efforts and contributions to the advancement of the health sector in the governorate. His Eminence Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Abdul Sattar Al-Kamali then inaugurated an exhibition showcasing medicines and pharmaceutical products, medical supplies, logistics services, and the latest pharmaceutical initiatives and innovations.
