Ministry of Health Prepares to Launch Mammography Screening Services in South Al Batinah
A specialized team from the Ministry of Health conducted a field visit to Rustaq Health Complex, Barka Health Complex, and Rustaq Hospital in preparation for the introduction of mammography (Mammogram) screening services for the early detection of breast cancer at these healthcare institutions.
During the visit, the team assessed the technical readiness and infrastructure of the facilities, discussed the requirements for the full implementation of the service, and reviewed training plans for radiographers to ensure the mammography equipment is operated efficiently and in accordance with the highest medical standards.
The visit is part of the Ministry of Health’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the National Cancer Early Detection Program and expand primary and secondary healthcare services across South Al Batinah Governorate. The initiative aims to improve access to mammography screening for women in the region, promote early detection of breast cancer, and enhance treatment outcomes while reducing disease-related complications.
The introduction of this service is also expected to reduce the need for referrals to central hospitals, allowing patients to receive screening services closer to their communities
