The 14th training course on head and neck tumor surgeries, organized by the Ear, Nose and Throat Department at Al Nahda Hospital, concluded today (Tuesday) under H.E. Dr. Ahmed Salem Al-Mandhari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Planning and Health Regulation along with the presence of Dr. Rashid Al-Alawi, Director General of Koula Hospital, Dr. Ammar Al-Kashmiri, Director of Al-Nahdah Hospital.
The training course brought together (45) participants including physicians, nurses, experts and professors in the field of head and neck surgeries. Among the attendees were Prof. Eugene Myers from the University of Pittsburgh, who has authored many books and periodicals considered as a basic global reference in oncology surgery, as well as Prof. Prathamesh Pai.
During her speech, Dr. Salma Mohammed Al Shaibani, Senior Consultant in Head and Neck Oncology Surgery, and Head of the Organizing Committee of the Course, explained that Professor Myers had made multiple visits to the ENT Department over the past few years, and played a significant role in the advancement of tumor surgery in the Department. Al Shaibani also mentioned that Prof. Myers had conducted the first accreditation for the ENT specialty in the Omani Medical Specialties Board.
During the three-day course, participants were trained in performing oncology operations, in addition to the diagnosis and treatment of head and neck tumors using the latest methods.
