As part of the Ministry of Health’s ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of medical services and improve patient care, AL Buraimi Hospital has introduced an advanced surgical laser device used in the treatment of anal fistulas, hemorrhoids, and pilonidal sinus.
This state-of-the-art technology represents one of the latest innovations in minimally invasive surgery. It helps reduce postoperative pain, bleeding, and the risk of infection, while significantly accelerating recovery and shortening hospital stays—ultimately improving patient comfort and the overall quality of care.
Dr. Majid bin Rashid Al Maqbali, Director General of Health Services in AL Buraimi Governorate, affirmed in his remarks that the Directorate has worked diligently and sincerely over the past years to develop healthcare services in the governorate by providing qualified medical professionals and modern equipment necessary to deliver comprehensive medical care.
Al Maqbali explained that these efforts have resulted in a qualitative leap in the level of surgical services, as Al Buraimi Hospital now performs a range of advanced laparoscopic and complex procedures that were not previously conducted in other hospitals. He also highlighted that the hospital is now capable of receiving cases referred from different governorates in coordination with various health institutions.
Dr. Mozan bint Ali Al Ghaithi, General Surgeon at AL Buraimi Hospital, affirmed that the hospital has been equipped with a surgical laser device, one of the latest technologies used in precision surgery.
Dr. AL Ghaithi added that the medical team operating the device possesses extensive experience in managing such cases. During the trial phase, which began on September 17, 2025, several successful procedures were carried out, all showing remarkable positive outcomes, with patients discharged in less than 24 hours after surgery.
Dr. Yasser Abbas, Senior Consultant of General Surgery at AL Buraimi Hospital, pointed out that the device is used in treating several delicate surgical conditions such as hemorrhoids, anal fistulas, and pilonidal sinus. He emphasized that this advanced technology helps shorten patients’ hospital stays and recovery time, enables them to resume their daily activities more quickly, reduces waiting lists, and promotes faster wound healing due to the minimal incision size.
Patients lauded the swift recovery and expert care, calling the technique a breakthrough in treatment.
This service is not limited to AL Buraimi Governorate; it also extends to patients from North and South Al Batinah, Al Dhahirah, and Musandam, enhancing the integration of healthcare services across governorates and reflecting the Ministry’s vision for a balanced and sustainable distribution of specialized services throughout the Sultanate of Oman.
