Under the theme “The Role of the Private and Third Sectors in Strengthening Health Systems,” the 24th Arab Conference on Modern Methods to Hospital Management officially commenced today (Wednesday) at the Sheraton Hotel in Muscat.
The event is organized by the Ministry of Health in partnership with the Arab Administrative Development Organization and Al-Mouwasat Medical Services Company, under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Salem Al-Mandhari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Planning and Health Regulation.
The opening ceremony was held under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Salem Al-Mandhari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Planning and Health Regulation, with the attendance of several prominent figures in the fields of health and health administration.
In his opening speech, H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Salem Al-Mandhari, Undersecretary for Planning and Health Organization, emphasized the importance of the conference as a platform for exchanging ideas and insights among experts and specialists in the health sector.
He also affirmed that this gathering represents a continuation of nearly twenty-four years of institutional efforts dedicated to developing hospital management methodologies, bringing together a wide range of international expertise to focus on a key issue: strengthening partnerships between the government, private, and third sectors to support health systems and achieve sustainable development in healthcare.
He pointed out that the conference explores a range of key themes designed to shape a roadmap for joint cooperation. These include the integration of the government sector with the private and third sectors to achieve universal health coverage and enhance response to public health emergencies; the role of cross-sector partnerships in ensuring the financial sustainability of health projects; the regulatory and operational challenges facing integration efforts aimed at strengthening health systems; and the enablers and opportunities for building effective multisector partnerships. The conference also highlights leading Arab and international experiences that showcase successful models of collaboration across these sectors.
In his speech, H.E. Dr. Nasser Al-Hatlan Al-Qahtani, Director General of the Arab Administrative Development Organization and Chairperson of the Conference, stated that Oman’s hosting of the 24th edition of this conference reflects the Ministry’s commitment to working with the Organization to continue the conference’s successful journey. He emphasized the importance of integration between the government sector and the private and third sectors to improve access to healthcare services for all segments of society. Al-Qahtani also highlighted the challenges and opportunities available for enhancing health systems across the Arab world.
For his part, H.E. Khalid bin Sulaiman Al-Saleem, Managing Director of Al-Mouwasat Medical Services Company in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, reviewed the role of the private sector in enhancing healthcare services.
During the opening ceremony, the winners of the inaugural Mohammed Al-Saleem Award for Excellence in the Health Sector were announced across its three categories.
Safaa Hassan Al-Samman from the Arab Republic of Egypt secured first place, while Dr. Reem bint Ahmed Al-Mazrooi and Dr. Suad bint Ali Al-Aghbari earned second place. The third place was awarded to Ammar Ali Hammoud Al-Rimi from the Republic of Yemen.
The conference featured a series of engaging panel sessions. The first session focused on the integration of the government, private, and third sectors in achieving universal health coverage and managing public health emergencies.
The second session addressed the financial sustainability of health projects, with several experts highlighting the importance of this topic. In the third session, discussions centered on mechanisms to enhance integration among the three sectors.
