The fifth Health Leaders Forum concluded today (Thursday) at Barceló Resort, Al-Musannah, with the presence of His Excellency Dr. Hilal Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health, Their Excellencies, as well director generals of health services and hospitals directors from various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, and directors of departments under the Minister Office.
As part of the forum's second day program, Dr. Qamra Al Sariri, Director General of Quality Assurance Center reviewed results of the scientific study on job satisfaction among MOH employees, discussing in groups the challenges and solutions.
A panel discussion on the role of leadership in the success of national projects and initiatives was held, moderated by Dr. Hamad Al Batashi, Director of Human Resources Development, and joined H.E. Dr. Ali Amer Al Shidhani, Undersecretary for Communications and Information Technology at the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology; H.E. Engineer Masoud Saeed Al Hashmi, Governor of South Al Batinah; and Khalid Al Shuaibi, Head of the National Program for Investment and Export Development (Nazdaher).
The final day of the forum also included a workshop on leadership in decision-making, run by Dr. Colonel Mohammed Salem Al Shamsi from the Medical City for Military and Security Units.
The two-day forum concluded with several important recommendations aimed at improving the delivery and accessibility of healthcare services, enhancing healthcare services across the country, and addressing various challenges and obstacles.
The Forum recommended the activation of initiatives that enhance decentralization in healthcare work to streamline institutional procedures and facilitate user experience, in addition to encouraging integration and partnership in providing healthcare among governorates, empowering employees in the Ministry of Health and related units in the field of innovation to enhance healthcare services and public health, and empowering teams for project and change management and continuous improvement management.
Raising community awareness on ‘’ health is responsibility of All’’ and their active role in developing healthcare services, enhancing job satisfaction and establishing a simulating environment by engaging health workers in decision-making processes and healthcare service development, in addition to empowering healthcare institutions with successful leadership practices that contribute to the success of projects and initiatives were among the recommendations.
Moreover, participants recommended preparing programs and initiatives to enhance job satisfaction among healthcare workers, preparing and approving guidelines for institutional culture development to emphasize the necessity of working through administrative succession and creating healthcare leaders with a high level of decision-making skills. They further recommended leaders to conduct field visits to enable decision-making and improve work quality, in addition to enhancing trust and transparency in the work environment to enable healthcare workers to actively participate in healthcare system development and healthcare service enhancement.
Furthermore, it was agreed to promote health and health culture among society members in order to improve public health, and to activate and utilize technology and virtual clinics in healthcare institutions to reduce pressure on the facility and increase beneficiary satisfaction.
