The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Undersecretaries of Health Ministries convened today (Thursday) a meeting at the W Muscat chaired by H.E. Dr. Ali Talib Al Hanai, Oman MOH’s Undersecretary of Planning Affairs.
The meeting is preceding the GCC Ministers of Health Committee 5th meeting as well the 82nd Conference of the GCC Ministers of Health Council.
At the beginning of the meeting, H.E. Dr. Al Hanai welcomed his Gulf counterparts and stressed the achievements of the Health Council throughout its consecutive sessions that addressed various health issues of common concerns in order to maintain health and prosperity along with boosting health cooperation among the brotherly communities.
The meeting submitted significant recommendations to their Excellencies the Health Ministers for approval.
H.E. Khalifa bin Said Al Abri, the GCC Assistant Secretary General for Economic and Development Affairs pointed out the critical topics included in the tomorrow’s event agenda, which would be granted full interest and concern to achieve positive results on the provision of outstanding healthcare for the GCC population as well advancing the joint health process in the area. H.E. Al Abri underlined that among such topics are the Secretariat General report of GCC Supreme Council on the fields of health, following up decision of the Supreme Council regarding the expatriates check-up, and the Unified Guide for Health Procedures at GCC First points of Entry, in addition to smart card health file, controls of medications, medical devices and supplies exempted from value-added tax (VAT), allocation of a daily sport session in GCC schools, and the WHO Air quality guidelines 2018.
