The GCC Health Undersecretaries held 20^th virtual meeting today (Monday) to discuss updates of COVID-19 at the GCC states.

MOH’s Director General of Disease Control and Surveillance Dr. Saif Al Abri participated in the meeting with the presence of Dr. Saeed Al Lamki, Director General of Primary Health Care and member of the Gulf Health Council’s Executive Office, as well number of Ministry’s senior officials.

The meeting reviewed the latest developments of COVID-19 given a particular consideration to the new coronavirus variant Omicron, in addition to the measures taken by each Gulf country in this regard and suggestion for the upcoming phase.

The meeting further reviewed updates on COVID-19 vaccine and each country’s experience in increasing vaccine coverage rate specifically the booster dose. The significance of exchanging epidemiological surveillance data on confirmed and ICU admitted cases has been confirmed in order to assess the situation about the variant Omicron.

Meanwhile, Undersecretaries urge all GCC citizens and residents to adhere fully to the precautionary measures as wearing masks, avoiding gatherings, maintaining physical distance and hand hygiene.
