GCC States and Morocco Coordination Meeting on Health

The Ministry of Health (MOH) participated today (Monday) in the virtual third coordination meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and Morocco in the field of health.
The meeting is held upon the decisions of the GCC Supreme Council carried out on January 2021 (Al Ola Announcement) stipulating strengthening the relations of cooperation and partnership among the GCC, and the active countries, regional and international organizations, in addition to promoting existing strategic partnerships with sister countries including Jordan, Morocco, Sudan, and Iraq.
The meeting touched on several topics including human resources by supplementing expertise and competencies in healthcare domain, along with exchange expertise and information in research, studies, and healthcare, and collaborating in awareness and awareness products.
Furthermore, the meeting reviewed developing cooperation in communicable diseases surveillance and control programs such as medical visa program and vaccination programs of polio, measles, tuberculosis and COVID-19. Exchange of expertise and information in Non-Communicable diseases prevention was also discussed.
The 3rd coordination meeting of the GCC countries and Morocco reviewed procedures and policies of human medications registration, registration of medical devices,veterinary pharmaceuticals, Gulf unified procurement program, and encouraging Moroccan pharmaceutical companies to invest in medications production and distribution.
Dr. Hamad al-Balushi, Health Systems Development Advisor and Dr. Jumana Al- Abdwani, Director of Foreign Relations and Organizations from MOH participated in the meeting.
