The Ministry of Health marked today (Monday) the official opening of Hay Asalam Polyclinic in Al Mabaila South, a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare services in Oman.
The opening ceremony was patronized by H.E. Eng. Badr Salem Al Maamari, Secretary General of the Tender Board, with the presence of H.E. Suleiman Nasser Al Haji, MOH’s Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs.
Dr. Sameera Al Maimani, Acting Director General of Health Services in Muscat Governorate, delivered a speech marking the occasion, highlighting the significant strides in Oman’s healthcare sector. She stated, "The healthcare sector in the Sultanate of Oman is experiencing rapid development, and the opening of Hay ASalam Polyclinic underscores our commitment to providing high-quality healthcare services that cater to the needs of both citizens and residents alike."
Dr. Al-Maimani emphasized that this new facility will serve as a model of excellence in healthcare, reinforcing Muscat’s position as a leading health destination.
She explained that these projects contribute to alleviating the health burdens, enhance disease prevention, and promote early detection, which in turn reduces healthcare costs and improves the quality of life.
The project’s implementation phases and the services it will provide to the community were showcased during the ceremony, along with the key health projects in the Muscat Governorate.
At the end of the ceremony, the patron of the event and the attendees toured the polyclinic’s departments, where they were briefed on its diverse services.
Hay Asalam Polyclinic, which took 14 months to complete and executed at a cost of OR 650,000, offers a comprehensive range of healthcare services, including specialized primary care for chronic diseases and, hypertension, diabetes, asthma, , maternal care, and family planning. Furthermore, the facility has specialized clinics in behavioral medicine including adults and pediatric psychiatry, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), neuro- psychiatry, and psychotherapy.
The project further includes a laboratory, a pharmacy, two examination rooms, a meeting and training hall, a computer server room, and communication facilities.
The newly opened facility has (19) beds, with the capacity for expansion, allocated across departments of male, female, maternity and postnatal care, as well as observation.
