H.E. Dr. Hilal bin Ali Al-Sabti, Minister of Health, chaired today (Wednesday) at Al-Bustan Palace Hotel the second health leadership expanded meeting with undersecretaries, directors general of health services and directors of hospitals in the governorates.

The meeting aimed to review and follow-up the health system in the Sultanate's Governorates.

The Minister of Health thanked all attendees for their efforts to raise the provided health services, pointing out the many challenges facing the health services in the Sultanate of Oman and stressing the need for cooperation of all to address these challenges in order to provide high-quality and efficient health services. 

Dr. Waleed bin Khamis Al-Nadabi, Director of Oman Vision 2040 Office at the Ministry of Health (MOH), highlighted the aspects and priorities of Oman Vision 2040 and the strategic direction of health priority through the strategic goals and programs, projects and initiatives, and the MOH annual plan for this year.

Moreover, Dr. Abdullah Al-Harthi, Senior Consultant in Accidents Surgery, presented a presentation on the national initiative to reduce the surgical waitlist. Al-Harthi addressed, in detail, the initiative's success in reducing surgical waitlists, such as pediatric surgery, by ending the waiting list in a number of Governorates.

Engineer Khalid Al-Tamimi, Director of Information Technology at Al-Dakhiliyah Governorate and developer of the Nabd Al-Afiah program and Queue Management System (QMS), reviewed the updated version of the two programs. The updated version of the Nabd Al-Afiah program displays the work indicators directly from the health institutions in the country by using the data entered into Al-Shifa electronic system. Through this process, the decision-makers can intervene to solve any problem without effort and field visits.

Al-Tamimi touched upon the QMS after being implemented in (22) health institutions in Al-Dakhiliah Governorate, as well as in the Emergency Department in Khoula Hospital.

Furthermore, the meeting addressed the health sector's challenges and suggested solutions and initiatives in addition to health leadership projects.
