Health Highlights Methods for Achieving Sustainable Health Financing
The Ministry of Health ( MOH) represented by the Directorate General of Planning and Studies held yesterday (Wednesday) a workshop at the Kempinski Hotel Muscat to highlight the innovative scientific initiatives towards ensuring sustainable financing of health sector. Ministry’s Undersecretaries attended the workshop in addition to the central and Governorates’ health services directors general and MOH’ officials.
The Director General of Planning and Studies Dr. Halima Al Hanai stressed in her speech the need for refining the Ministry’s current adopted methodology of health services delivery based on the economic experts’ in-depth analysis extrapolation of MOH situation.
Al Hanai added that the Ministry has collaborated with leading global companies to develop scientific solutions depending on the modern technology in order to achieve financial sustainability and avoid anticipated negative effects.
Three main initiatives were identified as solutions for achieving sustainable health financing that represent in the establishment of e-economic platform for health and first of it-kind National Costing Center in Gulf in cooperation with the Optimax Access company, in addition to developing artificial intelligence-based health information system for supporting decision-making in health. The third solution is the implementation of a comprehensive artificial intelligence-based and interactive electronic health record interface for the establishment of smart healthcare system in the country.
The workshop aimed at introducing artificial intelligence in economic evaluation and training the health economics employees at the MOH in this field.
The partnership between the Ministry of Health and the leading global companies in the field of programming and AI paves the way towards accessing cost-effective health services and reduing burden on healthcare instituations as well human and financial resuorces.
