Health Holds Academic Meeting
The Academic Council of Oman College of Health Sciences and the Higher Institute of Health Specialties held its second meeting on Wednesday, chaired by H.E. Dr. Ali Talib Al Hanai, Ministry of Health’s Undersecretary for Planning Affairs.
The meeting joined dean of the college and other deans, director of the Education Quality, faculty members of the college and institute, in addition to MOH’S Acting Director General of Human Resources Development and Advisor of Education Affairs, as well as the Legal Advisor of the MoH’s Undersecretary for Administrative & Financial Affairs Office.
The meeting, held at the Nursing building, reviewed recommendations of the previous meetings and the decisions made by the Board of Trustee’s first meeting. Furthermore, the draft academic regulations of the college and the higher Institute were highlighted, recommending finalizing the review of the materials and completing all relevant procedures in preparation for referring them to the Board of Trustees.
In addition, the meeting recommended the collaboration of the main Users Team for Information Management System (Hamis) and the company that designed the system to analyze the current situation regarding enrollment and identify the necessary improvements in light of the new academic regulations. The council further advised redesigning of Institutes’ e-portal based on the organizational structures of the College and the Higher Institute.
The meeting discussed admission of students from the Ministry or other government establishments, or through the cultural cooperation between brotherly countries. Unifying the annual calendar of the college was underlined and recommendations were made in regard.
Moreover, the meeting addressed the suggestion of establishing board of college and programs as well as the Higher Institute Board. The meeting highlighted the importance of reviewing the vision and message of the college and higher institute and the strategic plan (developed for the former health institutes) taking into account the Royal Decree No. 18/2018 regarding the establishment of Oman College of Health Sciences and the Higher Institute of Health Specialties.
The meeting additionally presented updates on the institutional accreditation and addressed number of suggestions.
