The awareness program on positive parenting, organized by the Ministry of Health’s Support Services Department at the Directorate General of Health Services and Programs, began today (Monday) at Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque.
His Excellency Dr. Saeed Harib Al-Lamki, MOH’s Undersecretary for Health Affairs, patronized the program’s opening with the presence of several ministry officials.
The program aims to equip multidisciplinary medical professionals with knowledge and skills about positive parenting in a way that enables them to raise awareness among parents and educate them on various aspects of positive parenting.
The program features lectures by specialists in childhood and positive parenting, with participation from a range of multidisciplinary medical professionals from various health institutions and individuals involved in child welfare from both public and private sectors.
Over the two days of the program, several important topics will be covered, including the role of the medical social worker with children, play therapy and its importance as both a diagnostic and therapeutic approach, challenges in child nutrition and positive parenting, modifying children’s nutrition, child records, and the importance of monitoring growth and nutrition, early childhood development, interactive parental participation, how to deal with child abuse, and professional assessment of the child and family.
During the event, the Medical Social Worker Program was launched in collaboration with the Directorate General of Information Technology and Digital Health.
At the end of the opening ceremony, the patron of the event toured the accompanying exhibition of the awareness program.
