The Healthcare Management and Organization Committee convened today (Monday) its first meeting at the Ministry of Health headquarters. The meeting was chaired by H.E. Dr. Hilal Ali Al-Sabti, Minister of Health, and was attended by representatives of relevant authorities.
The Minister commenced the meeting with a welcoming address. Then he elaborated on the importance of the committee, its responsibilities, and its crucial role in healthcare in the country. He also emphasized the significance of concerted efforts from all involved parties to achieve the outlined objectives.
The meeting reviewed the Ministerial Decision No. 94/2024 issued by the Minister of Health regarding the formation of the Healthcare Management and Organization Committee and the delineation of mechanisms to achieve the committee's objectives.
The Committee is tasked with several responsibilities, including organizing ways to maximize the utilization of government healthcare facilities, their distribution, management, and determination in a manner that ensures the integration of clinical services without compromising the objectives for which the healthcare institution was established. It aims to reduce waiting times and eliminate duplication in the provision of services of the same type to beneficiaries. 
Additionally, the Committee supervises the strategic plans to combat epidemics, chronic diseases, and rare genetic diseases, enabling the provision of vaccines, medicines, and necessary medical supplies for their prevention in a manner that ensures easy distribution without duplication.
Furthermore, the Committee is responsible for proposing financial funding policies and programs for the healthcare system in the Sultanate of Oman to ensure its sustainability, in coordination with the Ministries of Finance and Economy. Moreover, it is tasked with developing strategies, programs, and national policies concerning healthcare human resources in Oman, as well as devising means of managing and organizing them among healthcare institutions within governmental units. It also involves adopting strategies and policies for providing medicines, vaccines, and medical supplies to government and private healthcare institutions and taking necessary measures to ensure their quality.
