Health Minister Chairs NCNPS Meeting
H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Saidi, Minister of Health and Head of the National Committee for Narcotics & Psychotropic Substances (NCNPS) presided over today (Monday) at the headquarters of the Ministry of Health (MOH) the second meeting of the Committee of this year.
The meeting reviewed what has been achieved of the decisions of the previous meeting (the 23rd meeting), as well as the achievements and challenges in the awareness, media and training plans since January till October of this year.
The meeting also addressed the developments of the projects and programs of the National Strategy for the Control of Drug and Psychotropic Substances during the upcoming four years. In addition, an overview about the meeting was shared with the Deputy Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Planning, as well as the agreed recommendations, projects and budgets submitted to the Council.
The projects of Treatment & Rehabilitation Center in both the Wilayats of Sohar and Al-Amerat have been touched upon during the Meeting.
The Meeting also reviewed the programs of the operational plan and its budget for the next year like the awareness, media and training plans in order to be approved.
The Committee's expenses for the current year and the expenditure's proposal for the next year have also been discussed during the Meeting to be approved. The Meeting also addressed a perception submitted from the Hope Hospital to support the drug addicts, as well as the organization of an awareness campaign on drugs risks.
The meeting was attended by the Committee’s members of the concerned Ministries.
