Health Minister Opens Isolation Ward at Sur Hospital

H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Saidi, Minister of Health patronized on Wednesday the inauguration ceremony of the isolation ward at Sur Hospital, which supported by the Oman Liquefied Natural Gas (Oman LNG).
The inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of H.E. Dr. Yahya bin Bader Al-Mawali, Governor of South Al-Sharqiya, H.E. Sheikh Saqr Al-Shukaili, Wali of Sur, Dr. Khalid Al-Sa'adi, Director General of Health Services of South Al-Sharqiyah along with Mohammed Al-Mukhaini, Director General of Communication and Community Affairs in the Development Foundation of Oman Liquefied Natural Gas (Oman LNG).
The Minister and the audience were briefed on the new ward preparations and facilities, as well as the ways of receiving and dealing with COVID-19 isolation cases.
The isolation ward, which built in an area of 838 m2 at a cost of RO 761,000, consists of 12 air-conditioned individual rooms with toilets, equipped with audio-visual systems to facilitate the communication with the patients.
"Meanwhile, we are much needed for the isolation ward for COVID-19 patients, which is equipped with state-of-the-art techniques in the field of isolation and infection control." Minister of Health said.
He added that the number of infected cases in South al-Sharqiyah is ranging between high and low. At some point, the ICUs in Sur Hospital became full, therefore, a number of senior officials from the Ministry and the Royal Hospital have visited Sur Hospital to provide the needed support.
The Minister calls upon all to adhere to the precaution measures in order to reduce the pressure on the health workers stressing at the same time that irresponsibility is the cause that led to increasing the number of infected cases.
On this occasion, Dr. Khalid Al-Sa'adi, Director General of Health Services of South Al-Sharqiyah extended thanks to Oman LNG for its generous support in establishing this project and other several projects in the Governorate.
The Minister of Health presented a memento to the Development Foundation of Oman Liquefied Natural Gas (Oman LNG) for supporting the isolation ward project at Sur Hospital in particular and other health services across the Sultanate in general.
