Health Ministry Performs National Health Surveys
The Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by the Research & Studies Center at the Directorate General of Planning and Studies performed three national health surveys at the level of all Governorates, namely National Survey for Non-Communicable, Global Adults Tobacco Survey and National Nutrition Survey.
These surveys are being carried to provide a base line data in some fields to meet the needs of planning and decision-making processes for several health programs in the Ministry, as well as in the related institutions in the Sultanate. These needs based on recommendations of International Agencies.
The Ministry has made great efforts to overcome all the difficulties to implement these national surveys. Central work group have been formed according to a ministerial decision to follow-up and supervise all phases of implementation in order to obtain reliable and high quality data for the planners and decision makers to make decisions based on evidences and proofs.
The surveys includes two phases of field work; the first phase is related to updating the enumeration areas, and the second phase contains an individual interviews, physical measurements and medical examinations.
