The Ministry of Health, represented by the National Organ Transplantation Program, held today (Monday) a ceremony to honor living organ donors and the families of deceased organ donors at the Intercity Hotel, Al Khuwair.
The ceremony was patronized by H.E. Dr. Saeed Harib Al Lamki, Undersecretary for Health Affairs, with the presence of several senior officials from the Ministry.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Busaidi, Director of the National Organ Transplantation Program, expressed his deep gratitude in a speech, acknowledging the noble sacrifices of the donors, which embody the highest values of humanity, solidarity, and generosity.
Sheikh Dr. Khalfan Al Shaili, Communications Supervisor of the Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, delivered a speech on the virtue of organ donation in Islam, highlighting it as a form of ongoing charity (sadaqah jariyah), which brings continued blessings and rewards to the donor.
The event further included two presentations showcasing the experiences of organ donors and how their contributions have alleviated the suffering of the recipients.
At the end of the ceremony, the patron of the event presented honorary plaques to the organ donors.
It is worth noting that the National Organ Transplantation Program is one of the strategic national programs of the Ministry of Health, which aims to provide and develop organ and tissue donation and transplantation services, and to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation in saving the lives of patients suffering from organ failure.
