The ‘Achievement Promotion Forum’, organized by Ministry of Health (MOH) represented by the Directorate General of Nursing Affairs, was held today (Sunday) at the Avenues Mall with the presence of the Director General of Nursing Affairs Jamal Al Khadhori in addition to the attendance of MOH concerned officials.
The event honored founders and supervisors of the on-the job-training program for nurses for the year 2021/2022. Moreover, challenges faced and efforts exerted during the training of the first batch were highlighted.
The training program was established by the Directorate General of Nursing Affairs in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour to address the extreme shortage of nursing specializations and increasing Omanization rate in these specialties.
The program was developed based on academic foundations with the participation of specialists from various institutions in order to refine core competencies required in the following nursing specialties: adult critical care, neonatal intensive care, accident and emergency, maternal and child care, oncology, nephrology nursing, operations, and pediatric critical care.
The nine-month on the job-training program, equivalent to 36 weeks, is carried out both in principle and in practice.
It should be noted that the program trained (718) Omani cadres and recruited (590) nurses last July, while (120) trainees have continued their training until October 2022.
