Health Organizes Health Technology Assessment Workshop
The Health Technology Assessment (HTA) training workshop commenced today (Sunday) at the Grand Millinuem Hotel.
The one-week workshop is organized by the Directorate General of Medical Supplies at the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Syreon Corporation.
The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Mohammed Saif Al Hosni, MOH’s Undersecretary for Health Affairs, with the presence of members of the Higher Technical Committee of Drug, as well number of Ministry’s senior officials.
MOH’s Undersecretary for Health Affairs stressed the significance of this workshop, hoping that it would be beneficial in terms of evaluating medications as well the various types of medical devices.
The workshop, led by Professor. Zoltán Kaló from Hungary aims at building capacities of the work group concerned with studying the specialized medicines assessment, which is submitted to the Higher Technical Committee of Drug.
It is designed to build capacities for HTA by carrying out a hybrid cost-effectiveness studies.
The training program is divided into four parts. The first part will start this week addressing several topics that includes economic analysis, decision-based economic analysis, health care financing, economic models such as Surgery model, Markov models, Flu model.
At the end of the first part, the competency of participants will be evaluated.
