Health Underlines Sustainable Health Financing
The Ministry of Health represented by the Directorate General of Planning and Studies and in collaboration with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF ) held today ( Thursday) an expanded meeting on building consensus on the UNICEF report regarding sustainable health financing.
The meeting was held under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Saidi, Minister of Health at the Grand Millennium Muscat with the presence of their Excellencies the MOH’s Undersecretaries and number of Ministry’s senior officials.
The health minister affirmed the significance of expenditure role in the overall financing of health, commending meanwhile the efforts exerted in terms of financial sustainability.
Dr. Halima Al Hanai, Director General of Planning and Studies highlighted the objectives of the meeting in her welcome remarks stating that the meeting is held to review the UNICEF report regarding sustainable health financing, in addition to examining MOH budget and health indicators alignment, and discuss efficiency improvement areas in the Ministry.
UNICEF experts have carried out a study to explore the extent to which the Ministry of Health budget addresses the health needs in the upcoming years. This was done by identifying the most underlying weakness areas in Oman health system that result in putting burden on the Ministry of Health budget.
Such studies promotes MOH budget and enhances quality of health on its various levels thus raising long-term competency in particular.
