H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Saif Al-Hosni, Undersecretary of Ministry of Health (MOH) for Health Affairs received in his office recently Dr. Androulla Eleftheriou, Executive Director of Thalassemia International Federation (TIF) in the Republic of Cyprus and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, the TIF Executive Director addressed with the MOH Undersecretary the status of thalassemia and genetic diseases around the World. He also expressed the readiness of the Federation to promote the policies related to thalassemia, as well as its prevention and control methods.

The meeting was attended by H.E. Andreas Panayiotou, ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Sultanate along with number of MOH senior officials.

The Cyprus delegation visited the Royal Hospital, National Genetic Center, Al-Khwair Health Center and Blood Bank, Sultan Qaboos University Hospital and Oman Hereditary Blood Disorder Association in order to view the services provided by these institutions for thalassemia and genetic diseases patients.
