The Higher Institute of Health Specialties represented by Adult Critical Care Program batch (2022/2023) organized yesterday (Monday) a scientific day on stroke awareness. The event was held under the auspices of His Excellency Hilal Hamad Al Sarmi, Chairman of the Health and Environmental Committee of Shura Council and representative of Seeb, with the presence of Dr. Manal Abdul Majeed Al Zadjali, Dean of the Higher Institute for Health Specialties.  A number of the Institute’s academic and teaching staff, employees, students, and group of community  members attended the event at the Grand Mall, Muscat

The event highlighted the theme "Minutes can save Lives, Mobility, and Memories ... Be F.A.S.T", marking symptoms of stroke.

The event was accompanied by an awareness exhibition of several stations including an overview of stroke, signs and symptoms of stroke, medical and surgical management, complications, post-stroke rehabilitation (physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy), and prevention of stroke corner. The exhibition further included entertainment stations for adults and children.

The Adult Critical Care Nursing Program is one of the unique programs that promotes the professional development of adult critical care nurses across the Sultanate of Oman, qualifying them in dealing with acute medical conditions.

The event aimed at raising public awareness of stroke signs, causes, treatment and prevention, and the benefits of timely access to emergency medical care. It further aimed at educating people on how to avoid stroke, and exploring treatment options available for stroke patients and the rehabilitation services available in the Sultanate of Oman.

The day sought to enhance the individual's ability to recognize and respond to symptoms of stroke.
