As part of the ongoing efforts of Khoula and Al Nahda Hospitals to promote the rights of persons with disabilities and enhance the healthcare and rehabilitative services provided to them, a ceremony was held today on Wednesday to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
The event was held under the patronage of H.H. Sayyida Mona bint Fahd Al Said, Assistant Vice-Chancellor for International Cooperation at Sultan Qaboos University, in the presence of Dr. Rashid bin Mohammed Al Alawi, Director General of Khoula Hospital, along with several Ministry officials. The celebration was organized under the theme: “A Journey that Empowers… An Experience that Inspires.”
Abeer bint Saeed Al-Khanbashi from the Patient Experience Team delivered the opening remarks, welcoming the attendees and underscoring the significance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities in highlighting national efforts to promote empowerment and recognize the diverse abilities of this important group.
She also announced the launch of the program “A Journey that Empowers… An Experience that Inspires”, a qualitative initiative that reflects Khoula Hospital’s commitment to enhancing the human experience of patients and providing supportive services aligned with the principles of inclusivity and community partnership.
The event featured four real-life testimonies from individuals with hearing, visual, and mobility disabilities, who spoke about the services they received, the challenges they encountered, and their proposed recommendations for enhancing future services.
The program also included an awareness exhibition featuring the participation of several persons with disabilities who benefit from the hospital’s services, in addition to contributions from a group of healthcare professionals from Khoula and Al Nahda Hospitals.
