The National Situation of Vectors was highlighted today ( Thursday) at the Ministry of Health (MOH) headquarters in a meeting that was presided over by H.E. Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Saidi, Minister of Health.
The meeting joined MOH’s Undersecretaries, along with representatives of various government-concerned authorities to address the epidemiological situation of dengue fever and Malaria in the Sultanate of Oman.
The Minister of Health stated that currently more than (76) cases of dengue fever have been recorded in the Governorates of Muscat, Al Batinah North and Al Batinah South. He urges for intensifying efforts and collaboration of all to get rid of the mosquito by taking the necessary actions as it has been eliminated before in 2019.
The meeting touched upon the insect investigation findings on the national level. Current civil situation of the geographic spread of Aedes Aegypti and distribution of cases in Muscat Governorate were also reviewed in the meeting.
The meeting further underlined the roles of various government authorities for scaling up nationwide vector control efforts andhighlighted the challenges faced by Aedes Aegypti Mosquitos Elimination Campaign and the suggested recommendations in this regard. Moreover, the media plan through intensifying community awareness was discussed.
