Ministry of Health will launch the Oman National Stroke Guideline, under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Saidi, the Minister of Health.
The preparation process of this guideline has continued for around two years by joint team work between doctors from Royal hospital and British Royal College of Physicians in London (RCP). It aims at improve the quality of care received by people who have a stroke in Oman. It is also help to standardize the practice and reduce diversity in the provision of stroke care services as well as it will influence on the health care staff involved in providing care for patients with a stroke and patients and people with a stroke including their relatives, cares and friends.
Dr. Jaber Al-Khabouri, Chair of the Omani side in preparation of the guideline and senior consultant neurologist at Royal hospital said that "the Guideline consists of an introduction and four chapters, first chapter regarding the programmes of treatment of the stroke, the second one on the provision of stroke care and provision of acute stroke services, the third one on the systems underlying stroke management and the fourth is about the rehabilitation of patients with a stroke".
It is worth mentioning that, the guideline will circulated to all different health institutions in the Sultanate in order to improve the provision of stroke care services, prevention and raising the level of rehabilitation of patients.
