The Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by the Directorate General of Health Services and Programs (Elderly Care and Community Health Care Section), celebrated today (Monday) in Al-Massara Hospital the graduation of (23) trainees as the first batch of the national "Train the Trainers" program in wound care for community healthcare nursing.
The ceremony was held under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Ahmed Salem Al-Mandhari, MOH Undersecretary for Planning and Health Regulation, in the presence of Dr. Badriya Mohsen Al-Rashdi, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services and Programs, along with several officials from the Ministry and Al-Massara Hospital.
The program aims to enhance the quality of healthcare provided to bedridden patients at home. It stands out for its efforts to elevate the skills of nursing staff, standardize wound care practices, improve assessment methods, and prevent infections. Moreover, it focuses on the effective use of resources, ensuring the delivery of comprehensive healthcare with high efficiency and at the lowest possible cost.
Dr. Idris AL Juma, a specialist physician and supervisor of the National Elderly Care Program, delivered a speech in which he stated that this program represents a pioneering step toward enhancing the quality of healthcare in the Sultanate of Oman. He emphasized that it is inspired by Oman Vision 2040, with a focus on decentralization and empowering the various governorates to provide high-quality healthcare services based on unified standards.
The training program included a series of workshops, such as a "Safe Manual Patient Handling" workshop in collaboration with the Directorate General of Royal Hospital. Another workshop focused on training trainers, conducted by certified instructors from the Ministry. In addition, a workshop on wound care was held, followed by clinical training at primary and tertiary healthcare institutions.
