The Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by Al-Masarah Hospital at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center, organized today, Thursday, the World Mental Health Day Conference, which is celebrated on October 10th each year.
The Conference, which came this year under the theme "Mental Health at Work", held under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Ahmed Salim Al-Mandhari, MOH Undersecretary for Health Planning and Regulation in the presence of Dr. Thamra Said Al-Ghafri, Director General of Health Services in Muscat Governorate, Dr. Bader Ali Al-Habsi, Director of Al-Masarah Hospital, along with several officials and staff from the hospital and other participating governmental and private institutions.
Dr. Bader Ali Al-Habsi, Director of Al-Masarah Hospital, delivered a speech in which he stated that mental health in the workplace is not an option but a necessity, as it is the foundation for productivity, creativity, and professional harmony.
Al-Habsi added that in a balanced work environment, there are greater opportunities for the development of both the individual and society. This underscores the importance of raising awareness about supporting the mental health of employees and providing the care and resources needed to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
The Conference included scientific lectures, research workshops, discussions, and special activities, presented by several members of the medical team from Al-Masarah and Royal Hospitals, as well as Sultan Qaboos University. The aim was to enhance awareness and understanding of mental health.
The Conference was accompanied by an awareness exhibition featuring valuable research papers and information on mental health. Prior to the Conference, awareness workshops were held on Wednesday, in which a group of specialists in the field of psychology participated.
