The Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by the Quality Assurance Center, launched today (Monday) the Patient Safety Friendly Hospitals Initiative (PSFHI) at the Mercure Muscat Hotel, targeting several local hospitals.
The Initiative was launched by H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Salem Al Mandhari, MOH Undersecretary for Health Planning and Regulation, with the participation of several hospital directors and members of the facilitating committees.
The initiative included the hospitals of Diba, Jalan Bani Bu Hassan, Masirah, Al Mazyona, Taqah, Izki, and Al Jabal Al Akhdar, as part of an effort to strengthen the safety and quality system in healthcare institutions across the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.
The initiative program featured a series of training sessions and introductory workshops targeting focal points and facilitating committees concerned with patient safety in the participating hospitals. These sessions focused on reviewing the initiative framework standards and mechanisms for their practical and systematic implementation, ensuring the highest levels of institutional readiness.
The launch also included specialized scientific and practical content delivered by a group of Ministry of Health experts. The approved standards were explained, and implementation requirements clarified, contributing to enhancing the readiness of healthcare institutions to adopt the initiative and improve patient safety and the quality of healthcare services provided.
The launch of this initiative comes as part of the Ministry of Health’s efforts to promote a culture of patient safety and implement international best practices and standards in healthcare, thereby improving the quality of services and ensuring the safety of beneficiaries, in alignment with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
