The Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by the Directorate General of the Quality Assurance Center, launched today (Sunday) the World Health Organization's (WHO) framework for patient safety-friendly hospitals (the third edition) for all private healthcare hospitals in various governorates of Oman, as well as the Aman system for reporting adverse events. The launch took place in the lecture hall of the Grand Mosque on Sunday.
The launch was held under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Ahmed Salem Al-Mandhari, MOH Undersecretary for Health Planning and Regulation, in the presence of Dr. Qamra Said Al-Sariri, Director General of the Quality Assurance Center, along with several Ministry officials, hospital directors, and quality directors from private hospitals in various governorates of Oman.
The initiatives are part of the Ministry of Health's efforts to enhance healthcare quality and ensure patient safety in all health institutions, including private sector facilities. A total of 37 private health institutions are participating in these initiatives.
The initiatives aim to enhance tools for ensuring the safety of patients and staff by providing a safe health environment that relies on the immediate reporting of incidents and continuous learning from experiences to prevent their recurrence. This electronic system strengthens the capabilities of private health institutions. It facilitates communication among them to improve performance and ensure the delivery of high-quality healthcare, positively impacting patient experiences and their trust in the health system.
