The Ministry of Health (MOH) signed today (Monday) a cooperation agreement with Nizwa University at the Ministry's headquarters on the conduct of laboratory analyses of herbal medicines at the Daris Laboratory for Drug Analysis.
The agreement comes as part of efforts to enhance collaboration between academic institutions and health authorities and to provide an advanced scientific environment for analyzing herbal medicines and ensuring their quality and safety.
The agreement was signed by H.E. Dr. Ahmed Salem Al-Mandhari, Undersecretary for Planning Affairs and Health Regulation, on behalf of the Ministry of Health, and by Dr. Ahmed Khalfan Al-Rawahi, Chancellor of Nizwa University.
Dr. Mohammed Hamdan Al-Rubai, Director General of the Drug Safety Center at the Ministry of Health, stressed that this agreement reflects the importance of enhancing collaboration between academic institutions and the Ministry of Health. It will facilitate laboratory analyses of herbal medicines at the Daris Drug Laboratory, contributing to ensuring the quality and safety of these medicines, as well as expediting the procedures for their registration and licensing before they are allowed to be marketed in the local market.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Rawahi, Chancellor of Nizwa University pointed out that the laboratory will conduct the necessary analyses of herbal medicines according to the highest scientific and international standards, which will enable the provision of safe and reliable products to consumers.
