To improve the quality of healthcare by providing exceptional medical services that meet community needs and contribute to public health enhancement, the Ministry of Health (MOH) celebrated today (Tuesday) the opening of the expansion works for the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinics at Quriyat Hospital.
The ceremony was held under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Said Harib Al-Lamki, MOH Undersecretary for Health Affairs, with the presence of H.E. Sheikh Talal Saif Al-Hosni, Wali of Quriyat, as well as members of the Shura Council and the Municipal Council, and several Ministry officials.
The expansion project at the hospital included additional services to the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinics aimed at improving the quality of healthcare provided to patients and enhancing operational efficiency. This includes the Virtual Emergency Medicine Project in its pilot phase, which is directly linked to the Royal Hospital to facilitate effective communication. Additionally, an ultrasound machine has been provided to the emergency department to enhance the quality of medical examinations and appropriate diagnosis, especially for emergency cases and severe injuries. A mobile incubator for premature infants has also been provided to facilitate the transfer of critical cases to referral hospitals in Muscat. The new physiotherapy department has been relocated and expanded to improve the working environment and services provided to patients. Furthermore, computer technician offices and the server room have been expanded to organize work and ensure service quality. The dialysis unit waiting area has also been expanded to provide a more suitable space for patients awaiting treatment.
The updates also included the improvement of the delivery ward to meet health standards for delivery rooms. The nutrition clinic was reopened following the appointment of a dietitian to the hospital to oversee patient nutrition in the wards, as well as for dialysis unit patients and outpatient clinic visitors. Social media messaging services were introduced into the medical records services to facilitate certain services for beneficiaries, such as rescheduling appointments, processing birth and death notifications, and providing essential medications for the emergency department used in stabilizing emergency cases. Additionally, some equipment was provided, including assistive breathing devices and an automated external defibrillator, which aids in the rapid treatment and stabilization of emergency and critical cases, such as respiratory and cardiac emergencies. Special facilities for people with disabilities were also provided.
On another front, the Hospital organized training courses and workshops for physicians and nurses to enhance their skills and update their knowledge with the latest medical techniques, procedures, and new treatment methods. This includes new approaches to emergency care, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and advanced resuscitation, in collaboration with the American Heart Association and the Oman Medical Specialty Board.
Dr. Saif Rashid Al-Tamimi, Director of Quriyat Hospital, stated in a speech on this occasion that Quriyat Hospital receives significant attention from the Directorate General of Health Services in Muscat Governorate, which spares no effort in its development, whether in terms of building expansion, medical equipment, medications, enhancing the medical team's competencies, or increasing services.
He added that among the achievements of the past year were the opening of the new physiotherapy department, the refurbishment of the delivery ward, and the provision of various pieces of equipment to the hospital in collaboration with the private sector, including a physiotherapy device and an ultrasound machine.
