The Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by the Directorate General of Planning, organized today (Sunday) a workshop titled “Empowering the Ministry of Health through Advanced Costing System” under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Hilal Ali Al-Sabti, Minister of Health at Crown Plaza Hotel.
The workshop aimed to create an integral system to calculate the cost of health services.
In this regard, Dr. Qasem Al-Salmi, Director General of Planning touched upon the strategic transformation of healthcare in Oman. Furthermore, Dr. Sultana Al-Sabahi, Health Economics Specialist, reviewed the implementation of an advanced costing system for the Ministry of Health in the Sultanate of Oman.
During the workshop, several issues related to healthcare costing were discussed. These included different approaches to costing in healthcare, the healthcare costing system used in Saudi Arabia, the roadmap for establishing a costing system, and the significance of coding and status in Oman.
It is worth mentioning that the workshop came up with several initiatives and solutions that enhance and contribute to the development and ideal utilization of the available resources in order to increase efficiency in the health system and the quality of health services.
