MOH Organizes Workshop on Health Economics
The Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by the Directorate General of Planning & Studies (DGPS) organized today (Wednesday) via video conference a workshop titled "Health Economics & Decision-Making".
The workshop was attended by H.E. Dr. Fatma bint Mohammed Al-Ajmi, MOH Undersecretary for Administrative, Financial & Planning Affairs H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Saif Al-Hosni, MOH Undersecretary for Health Affairs along with an expert from UNICEF and other government-related bodies.
The workshop also gathered a number of participants from the Armed forces Hospital, Royal Oman Police Hospital, Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, Royal court Affairs and other facilities affiliated with the MOH.
The workshop aimed to familiarize the participants with the health economics concept, tools used in health economics, challenges faced by MOH under the current economic and health condition, as well as reviewing the reports demonstrating the national health costs.
The workshop came up with future recommendations for adopting and strengthening the health economics researches, establishing a cost center that the Ministry seeks to be affiliated to all health institutions in order to make it easier for the decision makers to know the costs.
