The Directorate General of Health Services of Muscat Governorate (DGHS-Muscat), represented by the Planning & Studies Department, organized today (Wednesday) a Forum for scientific research and health data indicators in the lecture hall of Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque.

The opening of the Forum was held under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Fatma bint Mohammed al-Ajmi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Administrative, Financial & Planning Affairs, with the presence of Dr. Thamara bint Saeed Al Ghafri, DGHS-Muscat Director General and a number of officials in the Ministry and the Directorate.

At the beginning of the Forum, Dr. Fatima bin Ahmed Al-Hinai, Director of the Planning and Studies Department, pointed out that this Forum aims to present scientific research published in international journals that won awards at the local and regional levels. She added that this research will contribute to developing the therapeutic intervention and services to the community.

Moreover, the Forum reviewed various health data indicators in health institutions, which include the number of patients and visitors, the quality of treatment services provided to them, the nature of diseases, health projects, and others that depend on setting strategic plans for health development.

Dr. Saeed Al-Hisani, Head of the Studies and Research Section, said that the number of scientific research that were reviewed and approved by the Proposals Monitoring Committee at the DGHS-Muscat amounted to eight researches out of (161) focused on infectious diseases, care Primary health, and mental illness.
