The Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by the National Heart Center at the Royal Hospital, celebrated, this evening, the tenth anniversary of its establishment, marking a decade of medical and humanitarian achievements and its leading role in providing advanced cardiology and cardiac surgery services in accordance with the highest international standards.
The celebration was held at the Al-Mirani Fort under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Sebaa bin Hamdan Al-Saadi, Secretary-General of the Secretariat of National Celebrations, and in the presence of H.E. Dr. Hilal bin Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health, along with a number of Their Excellencies, officials, health leaders from various government institutions, and the medical and administrative staff who contributed to the Center’s success over the past decade.
In his speech during the celebration, Dr. Najeeb bin Zahran Al-Rawahi, Director of the National Heart Center at the Royal Hospital, emphasized that the establishment of the Center was a national initiative aimed at advancing specialized cardiac services and providing the latest treatment technologies within the Sultanate of Oman, eliminating the need for patients to travel abroad.
Dr. Al-Rawahi also highlighted the Center’s most notable achievements, including the success of the first heart transplant and the first artificial heart implantation, performing tens of thousands of open-heart surgeries and advanced cardiac catheterizations, as well as its role in supporting preventive care and awareness programs in other referral hospitals.
During the ceremony, Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Riyami was honored for his scientific and medical contributions, and the late, God-rest his soul, Sheikh Saud Bahwan was recognized for his generous support and his belief in the importance of investing in human health.
It is worth noting that the National Heart Center at the Royal Hospital is considered one of the leading specialized centers. It continues to fulfill its humanitarian and medical mission efficiently and effectively, guided by a clear vision aimed at excellence and leadership in providing cardiac services in line with the highest international standards.
