Under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Saidi, Minister of Health, the Ministry of Health launched today at the Ministry’s headquarter Al-Shifa system (the National Electronic Health Record NEHR) with attendance of the undersecretaries, the Ministry’s advisor for health affairs and a number of senior officials.

Director General of Information Technology in the Ministry of Health, Abdullah al-Raqadi pointed out in his speech to the computing system of the Ministry of Health since 1987, where the first registration system was applied in the Royal Hospital which called Al-Shoroq. Then it is developed to launch a new comprehensive version for the primary health care in 1997 and called Al-Hams. Later on, it is changed to Al-Shifa with multiple versions for different health care systems.

About Al-Shifa system, the Director General clarified that this system linked all patient’s files in all different health institutions affiliated to the Ministry of Health with the unified civil number. “The patient can access to his/ her medical history, health data and clinical information at anytime from anywhere” al-Raqadi said.
