As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the healthcare infrastructure and improve the quality of services provided to citizens, and to achieve Oman Vision 2040, which prioritizes building a sustainable healthcare system that enhances quality of life and meets the needs of local communities, the Ministry of Health (MOH) today (Tuesday) inaugurated the expansion project of Wadi Bani Khalid Hospital in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate.
The inauguration ceremony was held under the patronage of H.E. Khalid bin Hashil bin Mohammed Al Musalhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Administrative and Financial Affairs, in the presence of H.E. Mahmoud bin Yahya Al-Dhahli, Governor of North Al Sharqiyah, several walis, senior officials from various civil and military government entities, sheikhs, and a large gathering of citizens.
The project was implemented under the supervision of the Ministry’s Directorate General of Projects and Engineering Services, as part of a comprehensive plan to upgrade healthcare institutions across all governorates.
The expansion project was constructed on a land area of 20,415 square meters, with a built-up area of 1,648 square meters and a total cost of 1,312,000 Omani rials. The facility now offers a bed capacity of 24 beds.
The new expansion features two delivery rooms, an isolation room, and an accident and emergency unit, along with fully integrated service facilities, including a kitchen and laundry. These additions enhance the hospital’s capacity and enable it to deliver more comprehensive and higher-quality medical services.
Dr. Ahmed bin Said Al-Saidi, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, emphasized in his speech that the inauguration of the new expansion at Wadi Bani Khalid Hospital coincided with the Sultanate of Oman’s National Day celebrations.
He further explained that the Directorate, in close cooperation with various state institutions, ensured the provision of qualified personnel and the adoption of the latest equipment and operational systems, guaranteeing efficient operations and the delivery of medical services that meet community expectations and evolving needs.
Dr. Al-Saidi added that the hospital’s opening aligns with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, which places human health at the core of national development. It also reflects the great attention that His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, may God protect him, gives to enhancing healthcare services and continuously developing infrastructure across the Sultanate’s governorates and wilayats.
For his part, Eng. Youssef bin Yaquob Ambuali, MOH Director General of Projects and Engineering Services, stated that the expansion of Wadi Bani Khalid Hospital comes as part of ongoing efforts to develop the healthcare infrastructure across various governorates, ensuring that services reach all citizens in accordance with the highest standards of quality and safety.
Ambuali added that such projects embody the aspirations of Oman Vision 2040, which prioritizes enhancing the quality of life for the community by providing comprehensive and sustainable healthcare services that cover all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.
The project represents both a qualitative and quantitative addition to healthcare services in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate in general, and in the Wilayat of Wadi Bani Khalid in particular. It enhances the readiness of healthcare facilities and improves the efficiency of medical services provided to the local community. The project also reaffirms the Ministry of Health’s commitment to achieving sustainable health development and providing a safe therapeutic environment that meets citizens’ needs and keeps pace with the rapid advancements in modern medicine.
