In the framework of the Oman-Belarus Joint Committee for Investment and Cooperation Meeting, hosted yesterday (Wednesday) by the Oman Investment Authority, His Excellency Dr. Hilal bin Ali Al-Sabti, Minister of Health, received today (Thursday) at his office in the Ministry’s headquarters H.E. Dr. Aleksandr Khajayeu, Minister of Health of the Republic of Belarus, along with his accompanying delegation.
During a cordial one-on-one meeting, the two ministers exchanged views and discussed matters of mutual interest. They later held a broader meeting to explore ways to expand partnership and cooperation between the two sides across several health-related fields, building on the visit of His Excellency the Omani minister to the Republic of Belarus in 2025 and the memorandum of understanding previously signed between them.
Attending from the Omani side were number of MOH’s Undersecretaries and senior officials.
The meeting culminated in the signing of a road map on cooperation in the field of healthcare and pharmaceuticals, outlining general directions for the development of legal framework and covering areas such as the organization of medical care, medical education, and pharmaceuticals and medical equipment.
Following the signing of the roadmap, His Excellency Dr. Al-Sabti made a statement in which he affirmed that international cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and other countries is a fundamental pillar for benefiting from the experiences and expertise of other nations in various fields.
In this context, he noted that the visit of His Excellency the Belarusian Health Minister to Oman came as part of reciprocal visits between the two countries. It was preceded by a visit of Omani Ministry of Health officials to the Republic of Belarus, during which a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the health sector was signed between the two friendly countries—a memorandum that has already begun to bear fruit through the implementation of several areas of cooperation between the two sides.
His Excellency further explained Oman’s keenness to benefit from the Belarusian health experience in various medical fields, particularly oncology treatments, cardiology, organ transplantation, and mutual pharmaceutical industries. Likewise, he noted the desire of health officials in the Republic of Belarus to benefit from Omani expertise and experiences.
At the Ministry’s headquarters, the visiting minister and his accompanying delegation also visited the National Virtual Health Center, accompanied by His Excellency the Minister of Health, where they received a detailed explanation of its departments and the important role it plays.
Furthermore, His Excellency Dr. Hilal Al-Sabti accompanied his Belarusian counterpart on a tour of the Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer Care and Research Centre and Sultan Qaboos University Hospital. During the visit, they toured various departments of the two health facilities, where the Belarusian Minister was briefed on their specialties and the extent of development and progress achieved. The delegation was also shown the modern equipment and advanced diagnostic and therapeutic technologies available at the facilities, as well as the high-quality health services provided to patients, beneficiaries, and researchers.
