The Sultanate of Oman is set to host the 24th Arab Conference on “Modern Methods in Hospital Management: The Role of the Private and Third Sectors in Strengthening Health Systems” on December 10. Organized by the Arab Administrative Development Organization, the two-day event will bring together senior health leaders, experts, and stakeholders from across the region.
This year’s edition will feature the launch of the Mohammed Al-Saleem Award for Excellence in the Health Sector. This pioneering award, introduced based on recommendations from the previous conference, aims to recognize outstanding researchers in public health and healthcare management, serving as a platform to promote scientific research and encourage innovation in improving healthcare quality, patient safety, and overall health system performance in Arab countries.
The conference targets a wide audience, including health ministers, healthcare leaders, members of health councils and associations, academic faculty and students in medical, health, and administrative fields, hospital managers, health sector investors, representatives of international and regional organizations, civil society, and insurance companies.
Across multiple sessions, the conference will explore modern approaches to collaboration among the public, private, and third sectors—comprising civil society and nonprofit organizations—in pursuit of universal health coverage and financially sustainable healthcare initiatives.
Discussions will address key themes such as disaster response mechanisms, sectoral integration to support financial sustainability, health endowments, and the role of health insurance in financing. Sessions will also examine strategies to strengthen intersectoral cooperation through transparency, effective governance, digital integration, and electronic connectivity.
Participants will review Arab and international models of successful cross-sector partnerships, offering a platform for knowledge exchange and best practices.
The conference is expected to conclude with significant recommendations aimed at advancing healthcare innovation and development across the Arab world.
This year’s event is held in strategic partnership with Oman’s Ministry of Health, Al Mouwasat Medical Services Company, the World Health Organization’s Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office, the Health and Humanitarian Aid Department of the League of Arab States, and Imperial College London.
