The 1st Omani-German Stroke Conference was held last Saturday at Grand-Hayat Muscat under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Sultan bin Ya’rub al-Busaidi, Advisor of the Ministry of Health for Health Affairs. The opening ceremony was attended by Eveline Lemke, Minister of Economic Affairs, Climate Protection, Energy & Regional Planning of the Federal State of Rheinland-Pfalz Germany, the German Ambassador in Oman, and number of senior officials from both sides. Doctors specialized in Stroke from Germany, GCC countries and some Arab countries as well as consultants from different health establishments in the Sultanates are participating in the two-day conference. The conference aims at promoting the cooperation between Oman and Germany in Stroke domain and highlighting the latest scientific and medical developments in the field of stroke. In addition, it will enhance the healthcare services level in health institutions in Oman as long as Stroke is concern and develop the medical staff skills in the treatment of stroke patients. Dr. Amal Al Hashmi, Senior Consultant in Neurology and Head of Stroke Unit in the Royal Hospital emphasizes that this conference is an opportunity for all experts and neurology-interests especially in the field of Stroke to consult and transfer information and knowledge. Moreover, it spots light on the most up-dates and scientific studies in this field.
