The Ministry of Health, represented by the Directorate General of Health Services in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, celebrated today (Monday) the opening of the Saih Al-Ma’ashi Health Center in the Wilayat of Bahla, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.
The inauguration ceremony was held under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Hilal bin Saeed bin Hamdan Al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah, in the presence of H.E. Suleiman bin Nasser Al Haji, MOH’s Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs, along with several Undersecretaries, Directors-General, officials from various civil and military government entities, sheikhs, notable figures from the governorate, and a large gathering of citizens.
Delivering the Ministry’s speech, Dr. Ali bin Abdullah Al Maqbali, Director General of Al Dakhiliyah Health, affirmed that Saih Al-Ma’ashi Health Center represents one of the vital service projects in the governorate’s health sector, aligning with Oman Vision 2040 and supporting the strategic objectives of the health sector—most notably universal health coverage. The center will provide primary healthcare services to residents of Seih Al-Ma’ashi and neighboring areas and will contribute to enhancing health-service decentralization by making care more accessible and reducing the need for long travel.
Al Maqbali added that the project is also one of the community-based initiatives that exemplify the partnership between the public and non-governmental sectors. It was built through a collaboration between the Ministry of Health and community donations, reflecting the commitment of Omani citizens to contributing to comprehensive health development. He noted that the Center is a landmark addition to healthcare services in Bahla and Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. It will offer general medicine consultations and a range of primary healthcare programs, including expanded childhood immunization, integrated child health services, maternal and child health, elderly care, community health, school health, dental services, laboratory services, and pharmacy and medical supplies.
The Director General further highlighted ongoing and upcoming health projects in the governorate, including Phase II of Nizwa Hospital expansion, the construction of the new Samail Hospital—now 60% complete—and the dialysis unit project at Adam Hospital, which has reached 90% completion.
Later, Eng. Yousef bin Yaqub Ambo Ali, Director General of Projects and Engineering Services at the Ministry of Health, delivered a speech emphasizing that this project is part of continued efforts to develop healthcare infrastructure and enhance the readiness of medical facilities across Oman, in line with Oman Vision 2040 and its aim to elevate quality of life and provide comprehensive, sustainable healthcare for a thriving society. He also presented a visual briefing on the center’s components.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the patron of the event unveiled the commemorative plaque, officially inaugurating the Saih Al-Ma’ashi Health Center. He then toured the facility with attendees, receiving detailed explanations from officials about the services offered.
The project, inaugurated as part of the country’s National Day celebrations, covers a total area of (15,000) square meters, with a building area of (562) square meters, and cost approximately (250,000) Omani Rials. It was financed through an effective community partnership between the Ministry of Health and a benefactor from the wilayat who contributed partially to its funding in support of the health sector.
The new center houses a range of integrated medical facilities, including three general clinics, a treatment room, an observation room, a dental clinic, a modern laboratory, and a fully equipped pharmacy, in addition to a meeting room, service store, and several support and utility facilities. The design prioritizes smooth internal movement and a safe, comfortable work environment for staff and patients, adhering to approved quality and safety standards. The project represents both a qualitative and quantitative addition to healthcare services in Bahla and Al Dakhiliyah Governorate as a whole.
Supervised by the Directorate General of Projects and Engineering Services at the Ministry of Health, the Center stands as a vital initiative reflecting the Ministry’s commitment to expanding and improving the distribution and quality of health services. It will help alleviate pressure on neighboring health institutions and ensure population have access to modern, comprehensive medical care in a safe, well-equipped environment.
