Signing the MoU for Development of Medical City
The Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Higher Council for Planning (SCP) signed today ( Tuesday) with the Oman Investment Fund (OIF) a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to construct and develop the Medical City, which is one of the Ministry’s projects of its 9th Five-Year Plan 2016-2020.
H.E. Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Saidi, Minister of Health, H.E. Sultan Salim Al-Habsi, Secretary General of the (SCP), and Sheikh Hassan Ahmed Al Nabhani, Chief Executive Officer of OIF signed this MoU.
The Medical City, a 5 million sq. m landmark located in Barka, will comprise several specialty hospitals consisting of about 1200 beds; including General Specialties Hospital, Pediatric Hospital, Trauma Center, Rehabilitation Centre, Neurology Centre, Diagnostic Radiology center, Medical laboratories Center, and a center for Education, Training and Research. It will further include a College for Health Sciences and supporting facilities. In addition, it will allocate areas for private sector health investments for constructing hospitals and clinics, besides other commercial investments such as constructing shopping centers, hotels, residential compounds, and recreational centers.
The city will provide specialized, medical services as well as job opportunities for the citizens in different health and administrative fields.
